Why Attorneys Should Hire an Indiana Process Server with Liability Insurance

An Indiana process server with liability insurance brings a few benefits to process serving for attorneys.  Many things should be considered when hiring a process server, such as years of experience, references, and timeliness of the first attempt at service of process.  Another important consideration is whether the Indiana process server carries liability insurance.

Here’s why liability insurance is important when hiring an Indiana process server:Personal Service

  • Hiring an Indiana process server with liability insurance reduces an attorney’s exposure to a lawsuit due to any possible negligence, recklessness, and/or errors and omissions on the part of the process server.   Simply put, it reduces an attorney’s liability.  A process server acts as an agent for a law firm when serving court and legal documents and liability insurance protects both the attorney and the process server.
  • The State of Indiana requires no licensing or certification to serve process.  An Indiana process server carrying liability insurance is a good indicator that the individual or process service company is legitimate and well established.  Besides merit and references, there is nothing else to set apart a good, reliable process server from the pack besides liability insurance.
  • Carrying liability insurance also indicates that the process server is committed to high professionals standards of running a business.  It signals an attorney that the process server is an ongoing and trustworthy business.

With no monitored indicators of legitimacy, an attorney should hire an Indiana process server with liability insurance.  Do you think liability insurance is important?  Please leave your comments.
